Sharing good practices and experience of MAPs

SHERPA MAPs
19/06/2020

Facilitators and monitors of the 20 Multi-Actor Platforms got together (virtually) for a cluster meeting organised on 18 June 2020. It was an opportunity for MAPs to share their experience but also to receive updates on the latest policy developments at the EU level and on project milestones achieved.

A presentation was given to set the scene for the EU policy context in which the MAPs will be operating. It overviewed the recently published Farm to Fork and Biodiversity strategies, and how these link up within the wider policy framework of the EU Green Deal. These are very important policy initiatives that will shape the future of rural policy and thus the discussion around the long-term vision for rural areas.

MAPs are currently implementing the first steps of a common methodology for the development of their MAP position paper on the long-term vision for rural areas (see SHERPA approach). This exercise is based on the SHERPA Discussion Paper and the common methodological Guidelines. After fulling the first step of desk research and context analysis, MAPs are gearing up to start conducting interviews with relevant stakeholders in preparation of a thorough survey.

The work currently undertaken by MAPs is happening in a particular context due to the COVID-19 crisis and Discussion Papers are due before the summer. Therefore, this meeting enabled the project to take stock of the work carried out by the MAPs and address challenges foreseen.
