Consultation on the evaluation of EU farm policy

Stakeholders
17/08/2020

On 9 July 2020 the European Commission launched the public consultation on EU farm policy – evaluation of its impact on habitats, landscapes and biodiversity. The consultation is open until 22 October 2020.

This public consultation aims to gather information and feedback from relevant stakeholders and the wider public about the impact of the CAP on biodiversity, soil and water. It contributes to an upcoming Commission staff working document on the evaluation of the CAP impact on natural resources. It will also complement the findings of the evaluation support studies on the impact of the CAP on biodiversity and water, published on 27 March 2020, and its ongoing evaluation on soil.

The feedback questionnaire covers the three separate evaluations of the CAP impact on biodiversity, soil and water (including environmental protection, rural development, etc.).

The important role of agriculture and forestry in managing natural resources is acknowledged and well reflected in the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), included in one of its three general objectives, the sustainable management of natural resources and climate action.
