The MAP of Alqueva in Portugal hosted its first meeting on 2 June 2020, in a virtual format. The first 20 members of the platform joined discussion, focused on ‘Biodiversity and Landscape Features’.

Two relevant presentations framed the discussion for the group and set the scene for developing further contributions. A representative from the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture presented an overview of the diagnosis of the CAP Strategic Plan, specifically on those features linked to the topic discussed. EDIA, the managing authority of the Alqueva Dam, gave a brief presentation on measures related to the monitoring of biodiversity indicators in the area.

The session continued with working groups to discuss further contributions set out in the circulated Discussion Paper on the topic of ‘Biodiversity and Landscape Features’.

The next step is for the MAP to jointly draft a proposed Position Paper on the topic, that will include members’ feedback and further contributions.
