In a recent article by DESIRA, the project overviews and sets the scene for the digital transformation in rural areas by defining the key concepts that are being addressed: digitisation and digitalisation. It highlights that both concepts are part of the digital transformation process.
The Horizon 2020 project, aims to improve the capacity of society to respond to the challenges and opportunities of digitalisation in rural areas.
One of the project’s objective is to assess the socio-economic impact of digitalisation in rural areas, agriculture and forestry. To analyse these potential impacts, it is rather important to set out what and how digitisation and digitalisation are interpreted in each context.
