About the MAP
In Denmark, NordRegio coordinates the Danish Multi-Actor Platform on EU Rural Policy. As the name suggests, the platform operates at the national level. It is based on the Rural Joint Council of Denmark with members from national organisations, municipalities and civic society. Possible topics to be addressed are: population, settlements, business, employment, (digital) infrastructure, education and health.
The MAP aims to formulate clear feedback and positions on the themes discussed within the MAP, improving the EU understanding of the situation in the Danish rural areas as well as the needs for policy regulation, support and research.
The activities of this MAP are designed to achieve the following specific objectives:
- MAP objective 1: Establish a dynamic group of MAP members and guests, to discuss openly, challenges in the rural areas, needs and opportunities through cooperation.
- MAP objective 2: Discuss and formulate strong position papers on central policy issues in the EU in order to use the ‘motorway to EU’ to strengthen the political framework for development of the rural areas.
Local citizens and businesses, rural organisations, research institutes, central government.
