About the MAP
In the region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy, the University of Bologna coordinates the Multi-Actor Platform Emilia-Romagna. This platform operates at regional level, specifically in the plain part of the region.
The agri-food sector in Emilia Romagna generates significant benefits for regional and national economy but is also causing a high territorial fragmentation, land use change and intensification that negatively affect biodiversity. Moreover, climate variability is increasing the risk of drought for regional agriculture that is likely to undergo significant changes in the coming years. In this context, the Emilia-Romagna MAP is mostly focused on discussing innovative solutions that can sustain the competitiveness of the sector while enhancing environmental protection and increasing the sustainability of production. Specifically, the thematic focus of this cycle of MAP’s activities is on land-use management in the context of climate change.
Objectives
The activities of this MAP are designed to achieve the following specific objectives:
- MAP objective 1: delve into the topic of land-use management in the context of climate change.
- MAP objective 2: embed the discussion carried out within the MAP into wider policy debate (e.g., CAP reform).
- MAP objective 3: present and discus (with the support of the SHERPA Discussion Paper) examples of good practices of land-use management.
- MAP objective 4: identify and discuss with MAP’s members the existing and possible initiatives of land-use management at regional level.
