About the MAP
In the Netherlands, Regio Deal in the South East of Drenthe and the Wageningen University (WUR) coordinate the Multi-Actor Platform Vital Villages. This newly established platform operates at the regional level. Municipalities, together with residents, entrepreneurs, schools, healthcare providers, housing corporations and researchers, are involved in the MAP’s tasks.
Social dimension of rural areas has been identified as the theme. The aim is to build a strong future, to keep the villages of this region vital and be a place where young and old can live pleasantly. The region of South and East Drenthe offers plenty of opportunities to live, grow up, develop yourself and work. Thanks to an attractive business climate, companies want to establish themselves here and invest in innovations and sustainability together with government and educational institutions.
Objectives
The activities of this MAP are designed to achieve the following specific objectives:
- MAP objective 1: Organise a multi actor dialogue on the opportunities, challenges and requirements for supporting Vital villages in the South East of Drenthe. The aim is to support villages in the Regio Deal area to keep their villages vital.
- MAP objective 2: Understand the influence of different policy areas on the vitality of villages and define the MAP position on policy support.
Composition
Not yet fully established, but the core of the MAP will be the partners of the Regio Deal in South East Drenthe.
